Last week I had the opportunity to worship at Sojourn – a church plant in Oxnard, California that my friends Louis and Faith DeLuca started. It was great to worship together and to be challenged by God’s Word.
This past weekend I had the opportunity to stay with my friend Steve Ogne in Southern California. We enjoyed dinner and watching football.
This concept of missional embodiment is not new. For nearly two thousand years, followers of Jesus Christ have been practicing it.
In Luke 10, Jesus sent His disciples “two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.”
“For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.”
There are two kinds of people: givers and takers.The takers eat better, but the givers sleep better.
“One of the truest tests of being a servant ishow we respondwhen we are treated like one.”
I really want to help Christians understand this. I want to help them to live on mission with Jesus right where they are. You don’t have to go overseers to be a missionary. You can live as a “sent one” in your neighborhood.
