[featured_image]Missio Dei exists as a church of Gospel Communities. It’s through these groups of 10-15 people meeting throughout the city that we are joining God as He makes all things new. It’s here we are learning to embrace and extend our new identity in Christ. Our dream is to be missional outposts in the midst of where we live and play as we experience the power of the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST together.

A Gospel Community is a group of 8-15 folks from one of Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods gathering regularly to grow in relationship with GOD and one another. We grow together by engaging GOD, forging deep relationships, and intentionally moving outward throughout the week to bless each other and our neighbors.
The kingdom of God is at hand!
In Jesus we find a new way of being in the world. Throughout the Scriptures we learn that it’s through His life, death and resurrection that God invites us into His kingdom. We learn that it’s through this gospel message bearing down on every facet of life – every thought, every feeling, every belief, every action – that lives our transformed. And we learn that all of this happens within the context of gospel-centered community. So, in keeping with who Jesus is, why He came, and how He carried out His mission…
Missio Dei exists as a church of Gospel Communities.
It’s through these groups of 10-15 people, meeting in homes throughout the city that we are joining God as He makes all things new. It’s here we are learning to fully embrace and extend our new identity in Christ.
Because of who Jesus is, we are a family – doing life together and inviting others into the family all the time.
Because of who Jesus is, we are missionaries – sent to love our neighborhoods and share the good news of God’s story.
Because of who Jesus is, we are learners – being transformed by the gospel and being equipped to be disciples of Jesus who make disciples.
And because of who Jesus is, we are servants – blessing our neighbors with acts of kindness and generosity.
Everything we do as Gospel Communities is in the rhythm of our new identity and designed to encourage and equip us to walk in it. This is happening with those who are new to the faith, those who have been in the faith for years, and those who are exploring the claims of Jesus for the first time. As more disciples are made and the family grows, new Gospel Communities are formed that continue the mission of Jesus throughout the city.
Here, we are more than just another voice of reason. We are more than just bearers of good counsel. We are the space in which heaven and earth overlap – shining like a city on a hill as Jesus said.
We are the place that God is making His loving appeal until the kingdom of God comes to Chicago as it is in heaven.
