Unfortunately, seminary didn’t prepare me for the task of developing and leading leaders.
Recently a friend asked me to explain my understanding of leadership. I reflected on a variety of definitions that I’ve heard over the years. At its essence, I understand that leadership is influence. Most leaders would agree – and yet there is more to leading than just influencing.
When I wrote Six-Word Lessons to Discover Missional Living, I attempted to capture 100 lessons that would help believers live on mission with Jesus.

Leadership development is critical to the ongoing effectiveness of any community of believers. For there to be continual growth and expansion, leaders must be both recruited and raised up. Also, intentional effort must focus on the process for empowering and supporting leaders.
