I watched the trampoline competition during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. This was the first time I had seen this event and I have to admit that I was a little skeptical when I first heard about it. I thought to myself, “Really? Come on! Jumping on a trampoline is an olympic sport? No way!”
Then I actually watched what they do. I was amazed to say the least.
If you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to watch this short video of Dong Dong in the men’s finals.
Dong Dong of China won the Olympic Gold!
After watching this competition, I immediately thought of the trampoline as a parallel to coaching.
What does the trampoline actually do? It launches olympic athletes into the air to perform amazing feats. There is absolutely no way any of those who competed in this event could have done anything even close to amazing without the trampoline.
This is what I do as I coach leaders!
1. I launch them to amazing heights.
2. I enable them to accomplish amazing feats.
3. I realize my coaching is critical to a leader’s success.
4. I don’t take the glory.
5. I simply do my part so leaders can do their part.
If you want to reach new heights and accomplish amazing feats – get yourself a coach!
