I am Sick and Sinful – Are You?

[featured_image]”But when he heard this, He said, ‘It is not those who are healthy who need a physician but those who are sick….I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'” (Mt 9:12-13)

Jesus is on mission with Matthew, eating and drinking with sinners and tax collectors. The pharisees are upset by His behavior. Jesus hears what they are saying and teaches them in that moment: I’m here for the sick, not the healthy (or those who think they are healthy); I’m here for the sinful, not the righteous (or those who think they are righteous).

This story reminds me how much I need Jesus today. I am not healthy – I am sick. I am not righteous – I am sinful.

I need to run to Jesus today and every day for His righteousness and His healing.
