I read this quote last week and I realized once again that I bring myself into every coaching conversation. As I seek to be fully present with each client, this includes bringing all of who I am fully engagCoaching and Self-Awareness | missionalchallenge.comed. And who I am impacts how I coach.

The greater my own self-awareness, the more effective I will be as a coach. This awareness allows me to be all that I can be in each moment. Failure to understand my strengths as well as my limitations will limit my contribution.

So who am I? (and what do I bring to each coaching conversation?)

I am a follower of Jesus – seeking to live as He lived.

I am a husband and father – loving and leading my family.

I am a trainer – equipping others in their development.

I am a missionalist – aligning my life with the mission of God.

I am a strategist – identifying innovative ways to accomplish more.

I am a collaborator – partnering with others to co-create.

I am an author – writing thoughts to inspire others.

I am a learner – pursuing new ideas and expanding my understanding.

I am a reader – enjoying the thoughts and ideas of others.

I am a believer – anticipating the best from others.

I am an optimist – always looking on the bright side.

I am an encourager – giving others hope.

I am a pragmatist – embracing simple and workable solutions.

I am a disciplemaker – helping others to help others to follow Jesus.

I am a friend – walking through life in relationship with others.

I am a visionary – seeing a better future.

I am a grace-giver – extending grace to others.

I am a listener – hearing from the heart.

I am a catalyst – initiating new efforts.

I am coach – empowering others to live out their calling.

So who are you? (and what do you bring to each coaching conversation?)

And how can you become more self-aware?
