“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”1 John 4:7-11
It’s so important not to miss why God sent His Son into the world. John tells us that God sent Jesus “so that we might live through Him.”
The hard reality is that sin has separated every person from God. While God cannot look on sin with any degree of allowance, His love for us was manifest in sending His Son Jesus Christ “to be the propitiation for our sins.” His death satisfies God’s wrath and judgment.
By believing in God’s Son Jesus, all of our debt is canceled out and nailed to the cross.
And we are sent on mission with Him to bring this reconciling message to the world.
That’s why God sent Jesus into the world!
