Ephesians 3:20-21
This past week God surprised me!
He did more than I could ask or imagine. Yet not just more, immeasurably more!
We have been praying and seeking the Lord’s direction. We’ve been hoping and praying for greater clarity. God gave us this and more.
It’s hard to describe the amazing way that we feel so cared for by God our Father.
In a very tangible way, He demonstrated His power at work within us.
All for His glory!
As I reflected on both the goodness and greatness of our God toward us, it made me wish that every Christ follower would experience this – immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine!
There are times when we’ve struggled, we’ve been frustrated, we’ve considering giving up, and we’ve almost lost hope. Yet I have to say that God is so faithful!
If you’ve never experienced immeasurably more from God, I want you to know something very important. Immeasurably more doesn’t come as a result of asking for it or imagining it. I used to think this way. I would ask God for great things. I’d tell God what I wanted to do for Him and ask Him to bless it. I would dream and imagine great ways that God could show up in our lives and in our community. Somehow I thought that if I asked and dreamed for great things, God would be “obligated” to give me even more than I asked or imagined.
This isn’t how God works!
Psalm 115:3 reminds us – “Our God is in heaven, He does whatever pleases Him.”
God’s not obligated in any way to answer your prayers or my prayers. He doesn’t have to do all the amazing things that I ask or imagine. Or whatever you ask or imagine.
Yet somehow He chooses to. This is what happened to me this week. And I was so amazed by how much more – immeasurably more – He has done.
This fills me with gratitude and hope.
And also a desire to keep trusting, whatever the outcome.
Today’s Missional Challenge
Keep trusting God! He knows what you need – and in His time, He will do immeasurably more!
