Coaching: Helping Leaders Take the First Step

Coaching: Helping Leaders Take the First Step |
I drove through Panda Express for lunch the other day. I hadn’t eaten there in over a year. I laughed as I opened my fortune cookie. I wondered if I could become a writer of fortunes.

Here’s what my fortune said:
To reach distant places, you have to take the first step.

As I reflected on this, I thought, “That’s so basic. And so true.”

I coach leaders to reach their goals. When we begin coaching, those goals are often distant places. They seem very far away.

Every coaching conversation ends with specific action steps to move forward.

My job as a coach is to help raise awareness so a leader not only sees what they need to do to reach their goals, but also to tap into their inner motivations for reaching those goals. I want to help them to see that they can get there, and what it will be like to achieve them!

So what is it that you want to achieve?

What will it feel like to attain it?

What actions will help you move forward?

What’s the first step you need to take this week to get there?
