God is doing an amazing work through His Church in Oxnard and Ventura! Check out The Kingdom Center!

My first book, Six-Word Lessons to Discover Missional Living, was published two years ago this week! I’m amazed that over 1,000 copies have been ordered! It’s my prayer that this book would help followers of Jesus to more fully align with the mission of Jesus!

I watched the Closing Ceremonies of the XXX Olympiad and the tribute to John Lennon with his song Imagine.

“For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.”

What thoughts does this trigger for you as you engage those in the culture around you with the good news of Jesus?

Looking at the pile of used ballet shoes in my daughter’s room brings the realization that I would never be able to spend a day in her shoes. Then I look at her feet and I see how brutal dancing has been on each one. It’s amazing to me what dancers endure!

I have been strongly influenced by David Bosch on understanding the church and mission. Here are some quotes that have challenged me – and I hope will challenge you…

It is in the very being of God that the basis for the missionary enterprise is found. God is a sending God, with a desire to see humankind and creation reconciled, redeemed, and healed. The missional church, then, is a sent church. It is a going church, a movement of God through his people, sent to bring healing to a broken world.

In 2007 I posted several posts on the state of the Church in America.

Jesus was the first apostle. He was sent by his Father. He, in turn, sent the Twelve. They went to people who would then take the gospel to the rest of the world. Whoever received it would understand that they, too, had been sent. With the gospel being what it is, the church as bearer of the gospel is bound to be apostolic.
