January 2010 – Core Coaching Skills Training in Seattle

One of the highlights of the year was partnering together with three other great trainers – Keith Webb, Steve Ogne, and Kevin Stebbings. As part of the the Creative Results Management’s training faculty, I have the opportunity to provide 60 hours of coach-specific training to pastors and missionaries worldwide.

February 2010 – CMTC Church Planters Bootcamp in Orlando
I love training church planters and helping them to adopt a missionary approach to starting churches by making disciples. The Church Multiplication Training Center (CMTC) has been training church planters with dozens of denominations for over 15 years. With my good friend, Jeff Getz, I was privileged to train church planters in Orlando. You can discover more about the training here – and the approach here.

March 2010 – My 45th Birthday
I blogged about this here – starting the second half of my life! I’m grateful to God for the first forty-five years of my life and eager to see how He will allow me to serve Him for the rest of my days!

April 2010 – Madeline Dances in PNB’s Serenade
My daughter has been in the Professional Division of the Pacific Northwest Ballet School. In April she danced in the opening night of PNB’s Serenade. It was incredibly beautiful! Watch here.

May 2010 – Core Coaching Skills Training in Colorado Springs

With my good friend Kevin Stebbings, I provided coach training for missionaries and pastors – including 14 from OC International. It was such a blessing to advance the cause of Christ through helping these leaders develop their coaching skills.

June 2010 – Maddie’s High School Graduation

I’m so proud of my daughter and we were thrilled to celebrate her graduation from Newport High School in Bellevue. She also went to Slovenia in June on a summer missions trip. Great experience!

July 2010 – Attained ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC)

I love coaching church planters! As I’ve continued to improve my coaching skills, it’s a privilege to be credentialed by the International Coach Federation. I hope to attain the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential in 2011.

August 2010 – Take the Missional Challenge launched AND Six-Word Lessons to Discover Missional Living published
It was great to see many people participate in my first blog challenge – 31 Days to Align with the Mission of Jesus. (Follow the links here).
I also was thrilled to see my first book published. You can purchase it on amazon.com. You can also read some endorsements here and here, or a simple review here.

September 2010 – Core Coaching Skills Training in France

Keith Webb and I traveled to the Burgundy region of France to work with missionaries and Christian leaders to develop their coaching skills. The training took place at the Chateau de Saint Albain. It was a great week!

October 2010 – Time with Mike Livingston

In September, my good friend and mentor Mike Livingston experienced an incredibly challenging discovery – colon cancer! (Mike is the District Superintendent of the Missionary Church Western District.) The doctors discovered a baseball size tumor. After the surgery, the doctor told him that he didn’t get enough and the report was going to be bad. Yet, remarkably, the report was “an unusually good report.”

For me, it was such an encouraging time to visit with Mike several weeks after the surgery and to hear him share the lessons that God had taught him through this – specifically, “There is no peace until you’ve totally surrendered your life into God’s hands.”

November 2010 – Lake Hills Church 20th Anniversary

Twenty years ago, my wife, my son and I moved to Castaic, California to plant Lake Hills Community Church. On November 4, 1990, we launched at Live Oak Elementary School. What a blessing it is to see how God is continuing to work through this church to impact those in the surrounding community. You can read some blog posts here, here and here.

December 2010 – Personal Retreat with Deanne to Cambria AND Keyes Family Reunion

The central coast of California has long been one of our favorite places to go. After a week of connecting with our supporters in Southern California, Deanne and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend in Cambria. It was so beautiful – and we made great memories that we’ll enjoy the rest of our lives!

At the end of December, we hosted Deanne’s family for a fabulous reunion. We had 24 of us sleeping together in our home and exploring great places in Seattle. One of the highlights was driving around in a stretch limo on New Year’s Eve!

What a fantastic year!

Thank you God for your blessings in my life – and allowing me to be a blessing to others!
